Everything to Know About the Current and Future Volkswagen EV Lineup

There’s no shortage of electric vehicles on the streets these days, and the list keeps growing every year. Currently, Volkswagen has multiple EVs in the global market, but only one is available to shoppers in the U.S.
That’s all about to change very soon, though.
To celebrate the upcoming electric Volkswagens coming to dealerships near Crestview, FL, we figured we’d give an overview of VW EVs. Here’s everything we know.
2024-2025 Electric VW Models
Right now, it’s predicted that there will be 3 electric VWs available by next year.
Volkswagen ID.4
As the brand’s flagship EV in the States, the ID.4 has a lot to prove—and prove it has. It just got updated battery technology for the 2024 model year, giving it an impressive estimated max range of 291 miles. It’s also available in a decent selection of trims, including the ID.4 Standard, which starts out at just $39,735.
Many new EVs on the market are characterized by their above-average tech offerings, and the ID.4 is no slouch in this regard. The Standard and S trims get a 12-inch touch screen display, while all others get an upgraded 1vo2.9-inch screen. No matter which trim option you decide on, it comes with a wealth of connectivity features including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM, VW Car-Net with Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless phone charging, and multiple USB ports for charging and connecting devices. It also comes standard with the undeniably cool ID. Light feature, which works in sync with navigation and safety features to provide visual feedback for the driver.
Speaking of safety features, the ID.4 is absolutely packed with driver assistance tech, such as Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Cyclist Monitoring), Light Assist (High Beam Control for headlights), Travel Assist, Lane Assist, Emergency Assist, Park Assist Plus with Memory Parking, and Dynamic Road Sign Display. With all of these standard issue, features it’s no wonder the ID.4 has won an IIHS Top Safety Pick award every year since its release in 2021.
Volkswagen ID. Buzz
Fans of the iconic hippie-mobile have been rejoicing ever since the news broke that we’re getting an all-electric VW Bus. And we have to say, it looks absolutely stunning, from the aerodynamically perfected body lines to the available classic two-tone paint job.
We don’t have a concrete release date for the electric VW bus just yet, but the company says it will be hitting dealerships before the end of 2024. What we do know is that it’s going to have plenty of space—it measures about 195 inches long, and will be configurable with up to seven seats. Volkswagen has also stated that the American version will be significantly larger than the short wheelbase ID. Buzz released in Europe.

Volkswagen ID.7
V-Dub’s sleek and sophisticated fastback sedan has been available across the pond for about a year now, but sadly, it looks like we may have to wait a while longer to get it in the U.S. Back in May, our friends in Europe announced that they were pushing back the American release of the ID.7, and no hard release has been confirmed since then.
Still, there are some details already confirmed. The ID.7 will be absolutely loaded with smart tech—it features a massive 15-inch center touch screen display, along with an available augmented reality head-up display and an electrochromic glass roof. Pretty cool stuff!
What About the ID.3, ID.5, and ID.6?
You may have heard about these other electric Volkswagen models and wondered if they’ll make an appearance Stateside. Currently, there are no plans to release the ID.3, ID.5, or ID.6 in America.
Do Volkswagen EVs Qualify for Tax Credits?
Under the most recent legislation, the Volkswagen ID.4 is eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax credit, and qualified buyers may even be able to apply the credit as a down payment. If you’re curious about how it works, contact Volkswagen Fort Walton Beach and we’ll walk you through it.
Unfortunately, because it isn’t built in the U.S., the ID. Buzz will most likely not qualify for the tax credit when it releases. However, Volkswagen has said that there’s still the possibility of an EV Lease Bonus.
Volkswagen’s EV Battery Warranty
VW has always stood behind the quality of their vehicles, and all new ID.4 models come with an 8-year/100,000-mile High-Voltage Battery Warranty. In addition, new models come with the Carefree Coverage plan, which includes:
- Scheduled Carefree Maintenance: 2 years/20,000 miles
- 24-Hour Roadside Assistance: 3 years/36,000 miles
- New Vehicle Limited Warranty: 4 years/50,000 miles
- Remote Features with the myVW App: 5 years/unlimited miles
Buyers can also opt for Vehicle Service Protection by Volkswagen Drive Easy, which covers up to 1,500 individual parts for 10 years or 150,000 miles.
