Because so many massive changes were introduced to the Atlas last year, the 2025 model comes largely unchanged, but there are still a few noteworthy developments.

2025 VW Atlas Engine and Performance

Like the 2024 model, the 2025 Atlas comes with an improved Evo4 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that utilizes direct injection and a turbocharger to crank out 269 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. All models also feature a smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission.

Nearly all Atlas models, aside from the base-level SE, are now capable of up to 5,000 pounds of towing capacity thanks to a standard trailer hitch. The Atlas can also be optioned with either front-wheel drive or 4Motion® all-wheel drive with Active Control.

FWD Atlas models are capable of 20 MPG in the city and 26 on the highway, while 4Motion® AWD models will get up to 19 MPG in the city and 26 on the highway.

Another standard feature that streamlines the Atlas’s performance is the Drive Mode Select, which optimizes engine, transmission, steering, and traction control, based on the user’s preference. FWD models come with Eco, Comfort, Sport, Snow, and Custom modes, and AWD Atlas models gain an additional Offroad mode.

The focal point of the Atlas interior is the floating 12-inch display screen, which features wireless App-Connect, SiriusXM with 360L, and a crisp, responsive display. Infotainment is bolstered by the 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro system, which boasts four different views including navigation.
